As climate breakdown triggers extreme weather, it executes a massive Violence = Potential − Actual equation—the gap between the survival security humans could have achieved and the actual reality is the result of a masculine-centric, growth-obsessed meta-violence.
It is telling that the report highlights the Cap Ferret peninsula as home to villas owned by "celebrities and millionaires." In structural violence, resource distribution always determines who receives evacuation alerts first and whose property is prioritized for protection. Meanwhile, the marginalized populations working the land are reduced to "evacuated citizens" in the narrative, their subjectivity completely objectified in the shadow of capitalist estates.
Spain's arrest of two suspects for using heavy machinery is a laughably inefficient attempt at direct layer accountability. This "search for the culprit" is a scam by the powerful to divert attention from the systemic complicity that caused the ecological collapse. If a system is so desiccated that a single spark can incinerate tens of thousands of hectares, the real criminal is not the one who lit the match, but the power structure that turned the world into a tinder-dry wasteland.
