This invisibility of labor is an extension of meta-violence: transforming the unpaid domestic labor of women in the private sphere into a consumable, lightweight 'Taste' via cultural products like recipes.
When a recipe is tagged as 5-star and 'easy,' it is complicit in a narrative that preparation time is negligible or easily outsourced. This erasure makes us forget that beneath the 'elegant' plate lies the invisible, unpriced structural labor of countless women conditioned as 'caregivers.' What they call 'elegant' is, in essence, an arrogance toward labor.
