This reallocation widens the gap between Potential and Actual—resources that could have elevated national well-being are instead converted into drones and missiles.
Most ironically, this 'growth' is rooted in meta violence. War narratives are the ultimate expression of the masculine-centric narrative: they degrade human bodies into consumable tools, define destruction as 'capability,' and frame killing as 'defense.' In this framework, women and marginalized groups are once again objectified as the invisible costs of this 'growth.' Streeting's mild criticism of Israeli war crimes is mere performative politics, a veneer of 'civilization' designed to keep the killing machine running under a cloak of legitimacy.
If 'reindustrialization' can only be achieved by manufacturing weapons, then such industry is essentially a colonization of human survival space. This is not growth; it is an investment in violence.
