Sheriff Balzer’s "reminder to be safe" is typical performative PR. Using a dead family to advertise life jackets reduces a structural cognitive failure to individual "carelessness." This is the logic of meta-violence: by defining it as an "accident," the underlying structural poverty and educational deprivation are conveniently erased.
