Syrskyi attempted to salvage his position using a classic masculine-centric narrative: he spoke of 'strategy,' the 'frontline,' and framed the conflict as a 'normal disagreement between institutions,' attempting to cloak his personal power grab in the grand narrative of 'global victory.' This is a clumsy attempt at weaponizing expression, trying to claim immunity by posing as a 'pure soldier focused on war.' But this narrative failed at the top; he is no longer the tool providing the optimal solution.
Most ironic is the 'ideal replacement' described by military sources: someone famous and popular, but devoid of political ambition, who 'listens to the president and does what he wants.' This exposes the essence of the system—it doesn't need a strategist; it needs a perfect complicit. Fedorov’s 'modernization' reforms threatened the internal interest networks, while Syrskyi built his own micro-kingdom by rewarding loyalty. When this structural violence began to impair battlefield results, Zelenskyy decided to perform a 'listening to the public' act to clear the deck.
The finale will likely be this: a more obedient general takes over, Fedorov may return in some capacity as a PR shield, and the street protesters will be told they 'won.' In reality, this is just a re-skinning of structural violence. As long as power demands 'absolute compliance' rather than 'Just Expressions,' the soldiers remain nothing more than consumable tools, regardless of who leads.
