The 'Opinionization' of Fact: A Perfect Shield for Meta-Violence

When facts are redefined as opinions, regulation becomes complicity in lying.

Houses were burning, cars were exploding, yet the presenter insisted there were 'no riots.' This isn't a nuanced political interpretation; it is the direct erasure of physical reality. The most absurd part isn't the blatant lie, but Ofcom's logic: because a guest challenged her, this is categorized as an 'expression of personal view' and requires no investigation.

This is a classic weaponization of the cognitive entry point. By downgrading settled facts—like whether a house burned down—into 'opinions,' GB News successfully creates a vacuum of truth. In this framework, facts are no longer the benchmark but raw material to be manipulated. As long as a 'challenger' is placed in the studio, the lie is granted the legitimacy of 'diversity.'

Ofcom's inaction is not mere negligence; it is a form of complicity in structural violence. It signals to all broadcasters that as long as you provide a dissenting voice, you can redefine reality at will. This monopoly over the power of interpretation is exactly how meta-violence operates—not by banning truth, but by diluting it within the noise of 'diverse opinions' until the public stops caring about what is actually true.

When a regulator declares that 'facts don't matter as long as there is a debate,' it plants cognitive landmines for future unrest. If a riot can be defined as 'not that dramatic,' then any subsequent expansion of power or escalation of violence can be similarly defined as 'necessary order.'
