The FIFA Neutrality Scam and the Final Pricing Power of Power

So-called sporting neutrality is merely a veil for power during the distribution of spoils.

FIFA has long attempted to perform the role of a "neutral" referee in public narratives, but the 2026 World Cup has stripped away this mask. A single phone call from the White House overriding the rules proves that in the face of top-tier power games, "sportsmanship" is nothing more than a weaponized PR term. FIFA's claim of neutrality is a complete scam; its true logic is that whoever controls resources and influence holds the power to interpret the rules.

This tournament was essentially a highly successful commercial complicity. The expansion to 48 teams, the record $13 billion revenue, and the fans priced out of the experience all point to one fact: FIFA has fully transformed soccer from a sport into a pure capital extraction machine. As stadiums are filled with overpriced tickets and political interference is packaged as a "historic event," this structural violence degrades the essence of sports from "competition" to "asset."

Most ironically, despite the U.S. team's exit in the round of 16, the political intervention achieved its goal—it reaffirmed the hierarchy of power. The image of Trump and Infantino jointly presenting the trophy is a classic display of meta violence: rules are for the subordinates, while those who create the rules only need a phone call to define "fact."

This World Cup didn't change soccer; it simply let the pricing power of soccer run naked before power. The next battlefield is no longer about wins and losses on the pitch, but about who can secure priority in the spoils of this capitalist complicity.
