In the logic of industrial agriculture, so-called "proactive actions" are never for the consumer, but a search for an optimal expression that satisfies shareholders between legal liability and brand value. When a company monopolizes 40% of the US salad kit market, it becomes a cognitive entry point, defining "freshness" and "health" while keeping the production chain a mystery as a profit moat.
This reveals a textbook case of structural violence: to achieve extreme scale and low cost, food giants extend production to Mexico and Canada, using the fragmentation of global supply chains to mask failures in quality control. The consumer at a Taco Bell faces a completely asymmetric game. Individuals have no bargaining power against the industrial machine; they only gain a fleeting "existence" in public health statistics after being attacked by pathogens.
Most ironic is the "family-owned" narrative (third generation agricultural family) used to wrap its behemoth expansion. Warm agricultural traditions are used to mask cold capital predation. This cultural camouflage makes people perceive such massive public health crises as "accidents" rather than inevitable structural oppression. Only when the CDC and FDA intervene does this narrative temporarily collapse.
