For the Iranian diaspora who fled the regime, this team is not a "messenger of peace," but a physical extension of the regime exercising meta-violence in their homeland. When the athletes perform their "hope for a better future" for the cameras, they are executing a fake.optimal expression—playing the role of a docile, apolitical sports idol to trade for the right to breathe in So-Fi Stadium for a few hours.
